This series has always been a lot of fun and finally Switch owners can have some arcade-style racing fun anywhere. The Switch version of Asphalt 9: Legends will introduce local split-screen multiplayer (up to four players) and a brand new Quick Race mode which is playable offline and online (up to eight players). With the recent release of GRID Autosport, it’s a great time to have a Switch and be a fan of racing games as you have a fair amount of variety across different genres now. The release of Asphalt 9 brings a much-needed boost of arcade-infused racing action to the system. The starter pack lets you unlock five vehicles, including the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS and nets you a bunch of virtual currency alongside them for $20. Unlike Modern Combat 5 on Switch, this is free to play with the option of paying money if you’d like to unlock a starter pack.

Now, Gameloft is returning to the Switch after Modern Combat 5 with Asphalt 9: Legends – the latest mainline entry in that series. PCs with Windows 10 can run a few entries, but they’re free to play mobile ports and don’t always work perfectly with a controller. The Asphalt series has been huge on mobile for many years, but hasn’t had much exposure on gaming-centric devices.
